Stick Center Italia, the first recognized Academy in Italy, is happy to invite you to the “Summer End Stick Meeting 2019” that will be held in San Quirico d’Orcia, Siena, from 11 to 15 September 2019.

This Meeting is primarily addressed to people who already play Chapman Stick but is of course open to all those who wish to learn more about this wonderful instrument and do not own one yet.

All the meetings will be arranged and directed by Andrea Atreio Marcucci and Tommaso Niccolai from “Octomusic School & Live” and will take place in Palazzo Chigi, in the beautiful village of San Quirico d’Orcia – a UNESCO world heritage site and “pearl of the Renaissance”, which has always been a place of encounter for European cultures due to its strategic position on the Via Francigena.

GUIDELINES

The purpose of the Meeting is to learn about and share individual experiences with the Stick and to strengthen the community of Italian Stick players by proposing topics of discussion during lessons and by performing live – solo, with drummers/percussionists or accompanying other instruments or singers.

Octomusic will gladly organize the topics that participants may want to cover or deepen, as well as provide support to live performances, on the basis of the number of participants and the topics that will be identified (i.e. how to arrange songs and genres, how to improvise, how to use effects). Octomusic will also support participants in the choice of the songs they may want to play during evening meetings by creating jam-lists focused on personal taste and needs. Proposals from participants must be submitted by September 9 to the following email address: octomusicschool@gmail.com.

ENROLLMENT AND PAYMENT

In order to participate in the Meeting it will be necessary to pay a 30€ application fee upon arrival. The costs of travel, accommodation and meals will be covered by the participants.

EQUIPMENT

In addition to the instrument, each participant is asked to be equipped with a stereo-to-mono cable to connect to the given PA system. We kindly ask those who do not own a Stick to let us know in advance so that, for the duration of the Meeting, we may arrange a sharing of instruments with the lucky participants who own more than one Stick.

Morning: lessons and free sessions at Palazzo Chigi
Afternoon: lessons and free sessions at Palazzo Chigi
Evening: “apericena” and Live Music at “Bottega di Porta Nuova”

• FRIDAY 13th

Morning: guided tour of San Quirico d’Orcia
Afternoon and evening: trip to Biofattoria “L’Upupa” in San Giovanni d’Asso, with dinner buffer (20€ each) and Live Music

• SATURDAY 14th

Morning: termal bath at “Fosso Bianco” in Bagni San Filippo and lunch at “Bottega di Cacio” in Bagno Vignoni
Afternoon: performance by Gruppo Sbandieratori in the village square and preparation of Teatrino in Palazzo Chigi
Evening: closing concert at Teatrino in Palazzo Chigi, open to the public

Morning: closing of the Meeting and awarding of certificates
